Exhausting All Options To Repair My Son's Achilles

My son has had an achilles tendon problem for over a year and is the reason I started this website. We are trying every rehab therapy we can find. Everything from orthotripsy to PRP injections. Physical therapy alone was actually making his injury worse due to a previously undiagnosed positioning of his ankles. As he was performing the exercises his achilles were being twisted like an indian burn thus creating more strain. After that assessment he threw out all his gym shoes that had unstable air bubbles or shox. The doctor and the physical therapist said they were a contributing factor. They also prescribed orthotics for in his shoes, boots to sleep in and the orthotripsy procedure.

The orthotripsy procedure has given Schuyler some relief from the pain. Before this it was very hard for him to walk at a normal pace and for any length of time. After the initial pain of the procedure itself, he was able to walk normally with mild pain and 4 weeks later he started to walk briskly on the treadmill. His anxiousness may have been premature as around the 5 min. mark the pain increased. It has now been 10 weeks and there has been gradual improvement but not near normal or playing condition.

The continued frustration with healing my sons achilles tendon continues. Later this month he will be going in to try platelet replacement therapy or PRP. We don't know a whole bunch about it but he deserves every chance to walk and play without pain and we are determined.
